Bible Reading: Numbers 9-10

Numbers 9:1-2  And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season.

My how time flies!!

It has been two years since God delivered Israel by the Power of His might and the Blood of the Lamb (Passover Lamb)

During the last two years Moses has been overseeing the creation of the Tabernacle (15 = tent of the testimony) the place of the mercy seat and the presence of God. It is now time to put it to use as God intended.

1. Direction

Numbers 9:2-3  Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season.
In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.

A. Worship and obedience was the first order (not numbering)

1. Though the book is named “Numbers” and is about the numbering of the people, it’s never the first order of the day!

Matthew 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Numbers 1:1-2

The consider… Numbers 9:1

B. Do it right

If there is a right way to worship, then there must also be a wrong way to worship

(Wrong is nothing more than a perverting of the right)

C. It behooves us as God’s children to worship right but by all means TO WORSHIP

Worship was a collective thing here, it wasn’t a “PRIVATE” matter.

2. Discretion

Numbers 9:6  And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:

A. Imagine that, these men had an excuse and they didn’t want it; they wanted to obey and worship

My point is this, they  had a valid reason for missing worship (Passover)

God knows that many people look for reasons to get out rather than get in

Who needs to worship the most: those who want to or the those who don’t?

When Adam and Eve had sinned, they hid

Psalm 122:1  I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

 B. They wanted to worship RIGHT!

Numbers 9:7-8

Moses was not a know-it-all. He readily admitted that he didn’t know the mind of God on something but he would get with God who does!!!

C. The Lord made a way!!!!!!!!

The MERCY and GRACE of God are beyond understanding! PTL

Numbers 9:10-11  Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD.
The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

3. Danger

Numbers 10:1-2  And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.

A. The danger from within: Not moving w/ God

Numbers 10:5-6  When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward.
When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.

B. The danger from without: Failing to fight

Numbers 10:9  And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
